Quick answer: The closest airport is not always the best fit. Confirm aircraft suitability, operating access and the exact FBO before travel.

What is an FBO?.

Understand FBOs and private jet airport selection.

01

What is an FBO?

A fixed-base operator provides services for general aviation at an airport. Depending on the location, these may include a passenger lounge, handling, fueling and coordination of ground services. An airport can have several FBOs with different entrances.

02

Compare the whole journey

Consider your ground travel, airport hours, access restrictions and available services. A shorter drive may be offset by operating limitations. Ask the operator to assess the proposed aircraft against runway and airport requirements.

03

International arrivals need a border plan

Private terminals do not bypass customs or immigration. Ask where processing will occur, who coordinates it and whether the airport and timing suit the itinerary. For U.S. arrivals, use the operator’s confirmed CBP arrangements.

04

Check the details that matter on the day

Save the exact terminal address, local arrival time and a contact number. Confirm parking, driver pickup, boarding assistance and any equipment. If the destination airport changes, recheck transport and border arrangements.

A few useful answers.

No. The airport is the wider facility; an FBO is a service provider or terminal at that airport.
